Covid-19 Information

At SPWD, we prioritise the safety and health of our clients and everything else. Our focus is on creating healthy homes and communities during and beyond COVID-19. Our team has put in consistent measures according to the government guidelines to ensure we deliver positive and healthy outcomes for all our participants.

COVID-19 puts people with disability at a greater risk for the following reasons –

  • Existing chronic conditions and other vulnerable conditions
  • A weakened immune system
  • The impracticality of physical distancing since they need close assistance to manage their daily activities
  • Difficulties maintaining hygiene measures, such as wearing a face mask.

Being vaccinated against the COVID-19 reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalisation, and death. Moreover, you keep yourself and your community safe.

Practising good hygiene helps you stay safer. It is advised to wash your hands with soap at regular intervals, especially after getting in touch with a person, including our support coordinators. You can also use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

Practice social distancing and always use your mask when around people. Instead of going out to take care of your daily medicine or grocery supplies, order online and use home delivery services. Strictly avoid physical contact with other people, especially with those who have flu-like symptoms.

Coping with the pandemic is stressful for everyone. If you feel anxious or overwhelmed because of isolation or your health, reach out to get help for your mental health.

We are aware of how our participants rely on us for their well-being. Hence, we continue providing our full range of services to our participants until the government regulations allow us.

Our staff is fully vaccinated and well-trained to follow all the COVID-19 protocols and preventative measures. We get everyone checked regularly and have a system designed in case a participant or a staff member is possibly exposed to the virus.

If you are sick, do not worry or get anxious. First, check your symptoms on the Australian Government Department of Health website. If you find the symptoms, stay home and quarantine yourself. Make an appointment with your doctor right away. While you shall not get stressed too much, do not take it lightly as well. Some people get mild symptoms and recover easily, while others get sick very quickly.
